I am not a poetry reader generally, and certainly not well versed on proper poetry, but I know when I like poetry, and this I like. The poet takes you on a journey of himself, but you will recognize the story, or at least relate to it. The poet carries you through the emotions and thoughts that although personal to him are more common in us all than we like to admit. You will empathize and personalize each poem to your own context, which is the beautiful aspect about poetry and music. Without having the full context of the author's situations, the reader imprints their life onto the emotions and mind-scrapes presented, or absorbs them into their own context as the interaction can be bidirectional.What I liked about this author is the above is so easy to do because of style. One reason I don't read much poetry is I find it inaccessible, hard to understand and relate to. I pin this problem on myself for being too obtuse a reader. However, for me, the author overcomes this barrier. Give the collection a try and you will be rewarded.

Wonderful collection of a young man's journey from teen to manhood. Beautifully written insights into struggle, angst, resolve, celebration, love, and growing. Looking forward to the next volume.
