I had to drop 1 star, not because it did not deserve 5 stars, but because it was too short.

I love Cat Johnson's books, especially her military romances, but although this book was one of her well-written, introspective jaunts into a special operative's mind, it wasn't long enough. I wanted more details about the rescue, less self-castigation over regrets "I should have stayed home" and “I should have convinced her to stay home” were oft repeated.

I wanted more about the switch between the warrior at home to capable SEAL and his team donning their "armor" and heading out to fix the problem.

Story Line: This world isn't safe. Here and especially overseas. This story should have been at least partially about well-trained people being there when it counted, but it felt like someone — an editor perhaps — had gutted the story... taking out the important bits about the training, the well-executed plans, the capable people and their years of experience. The details we got were summed up with a few sentences scattered around conversations in which we learn that a replacement for the hero would take at least 8-10 years of training and how harshly he dealt with his date with the heroine the day after sleeping with her because he is afraid to admit his feelings for her and also succumb to his father's wishes to marry her and cement a bond between to families.

Not to mention we only find out that the "negotiations" to release the hostages fell through after the team is already rescuing the women — all from the POV of the heroine.

Where was the whole "GAPS" mission preview? This book seemed to be only about how they would finally get their financing. A preamble at best. But it still would have been good to have more details on what they are capable of for future books.

Just my reader's opinion... I still really like the story enough to read it through, not putting it down until I was done.

Saved by a SEAL A Friends to Lovers Romance Hot SEALs Book 2 edition by Cat Johnson Romance eBooks Reviews

Even though I enjoyed this story a lot, I felt like there were parts missing. SPOILER orders to prepare and wait were given then next thing you know feet hit the ground on a mission. What happened to the negotiation? What happen to the orders for the mission? I would have enjoyed seeing Zane squirm while waiting for orders to come down and feel his emotions come to light for Missy while he waited. This is just one example. Other than that this story was excellent. I enjoyed the family drama, the support between friends and the discovery of feeling complete. The story line is dramatic and adventurous with a sweetness added in to it. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Zane is a born playboy, being a Navy SEAL just makes it so much easier. Missy is the Senator's daughter, who has had a crush on Zane since puberty. Zane & his Team want to retire from the Navy & open their own security company. He is hoping to get his father to invest. Mr Alexander has terms & he won't budge. Date Missy & marry her or the deal is off! One problem, Missy is leaving for Nigeria for 3 months. Zane really enjoys Missy's company, but he isn't cut out for relationships. So, after a wonderful night together, she calls him, only to have him tell her he isn't interested in long term. Heartbroken, she leaves for Africa to teach English. The political unrest in the area she is going, worries her family & Zane. Now, the teachers & female students are in grave danger. Will Zane & his Team get there in time to save them? Will Zane finally admit he hasn't stop thinking about her while she was gone? Will Missy be able to forgive & trust him after all that has happened? Book two of this series is every bit as exciting as the first! You won't be disappointed!
Love this author...Loved the story..but....she does not go into enough details...like when Missy went to Nigeria..no mention between the time she leaves and when she involved there a month already...When Zane and his cohorts are told she was kidnapped..no details...of how they got to be involved..how she was taken...Way to fast leading to the action part...The ending never told the details of what happened when Zane got the money for the new company and how his father dealt with that...Absolutely no mention of detailed info on Zane's relationship with his father...This writer sure has potential but has got to take a little more time with details...Books are too short..refuse to by a book with so few pages...I hope she looks at these reviews..and maybe extends the details..Love the characters..am truly interested in them.....but want more details on themm
